Kris

Master Certified Home Inspector

Kris Taylor, founder of Legacy Home Inspection, brings over 20 years of diverse experience in construction and inspections, blending hands-on expertise with a meticulous eye for detail. His career began as a primary contractor for national retailers like ALDO, Lush, and West49, where he developed a deep understanding of building codes, construction practices, and quality assurance. His role in overseeing complex projects provided him with a solid foundation in managing both residential and commercial construction, skills that continue to serve him in his inspections today.

Since transitioning into inspections in 2013, Kris has built Legacy into a Kris-led, multi-inspector team recognized for detailed work, discreet professionalism, and calm, clear communication—especially when decisions carry real financial and emotional weight. Kris personally specializes in high-end properties ($5M+) and rural homes/cottages, where complexity is the norm and outcomes depend on knowing what matters most: building envelope performance, water management, foundations, mechanical systems, and the realities of seasonal-use properties.

Supported by his team, Legacy provides a full suite of services across Ontario, including residential and commercial inspections, Ontario energy audits, WETT (Levels 1 & 2), well inspections, and septic inspections—delivered with consistent standards and reliable reporting. Kris’s credibility is further reinforced through collaborations with notable HGTV personalities including Bryan Baeumler and the Property Brothers.

Beyond transactions, Kris is a trusted resource for property managers and real estate brokerages, and he works with multiple legal firms providing technical insight, documentation support, and expert testimony when required. Kris also designs and teaches educational seminars to help raise industry standards and equip realtors with practical insight into the less-visible risks of property ownership—the “dark side of real estate”—so they can better protect clients and reduce surprises. Kris also holds building code inspection credentials, which are leveraged when matters require code-based technical review in dispute settings.

Julian

Certified Home Inspector

With a unique blend of expertise in construction, military service, and technical disciplines, Julian brings a diverse and highly skilled approach to home inspections. With over a decade of hands-on experience in residential and commercial construction, renovations, and large equipment rigging, he has developed a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of how homes are built and maintained.

Before transitioning to home inspections, Julian served in the military for four years, where he gained valuable technical experience, which further honed his ability to troubleshoot and assess complex systems. This technical foundation laid the groundwork for his expertise in identifying potential issues in all areas of a home.

Julian also spent more than ten years working in residential renovations, gaining hands-on experience in assessing construction quality, recognizing structural issues, and understanding how various systems and components of a home interact. This experience has made him adept at spotting problems that often get overlooked, ensuring that homes are safe, sound, and ready for occupancy. By combining this wide-ranging knowledge, Julian provides home buyers, sellers, and property owners with comprehensive inspections that cover everything from the foundation and structural integrity to safety hazards.

Joel

Certified Home Inspector

Joel combines over 20 years of construction experience with a degree in Architectural Science to deliver detailed, professional home inspections. Coming from a long line of tradespeople, Joel funded his university education by immersing himself in a variety of construction trades, including residential framing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, overhead doors, landscaping, painting, epoxy and polished concrete floors. His diverse construction experience sparked his passion for building science–the study of how buildings function and interact with their environment– which he majored in while obtaining his architecture degree.

Joel began his professional career at an engineering firm, where he supervised the construction of dozens of condominiums throughout the GTA as an unbiased inspector, overseeing everything from foundations to finishing details. Continuing on his formal education Joel developed a specific skill set in building performance testing–like leak investigation and energy efficiency performance– which he parlayed into a position at another engineering firm that specialized in high-rise window systems, from production to installation. 

Before transitioning into home inspecting, Joel co-owned and operated a residential, commercial and industrial flooring company, specializing in high performance epoxy and polished concrete systems. Joel was intimately involved in all aspects of construction in this role, from planning and specifications to complicated installations.

Melissa

Operations Manager

Melissa is the Operations Manager at Legacy Home Inspection, bringing a unique blend of experience in urban planning, real estate, and project coordination to the home inspection industry. With a degree focused on urban planning, Melissa developed a passion for understanding how communities and properties are developed and maintained. This foundation led her to gain valuable experience in the real estate industry and worked alongside condo and home developers, refining her skills in project coordination and customer service.

Over the course of her career, Melissa has had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and teams, from realtors, homeowners, to large-scale developers, ensuring projects run smoothly and clients receive exceptional service. Whether streamlining operations, managing schedules, or addressing client concerns, Melissa is dedicated to maintaining a seamless process from start to finish.
