What we are looking for
Home Inspector - Part Time OR Full Time
We are seeking qualified candidates with experience and training in residential property inspections who can confidently assess the fundamental components of a home while delivering exceptional customer service. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Home Inspector to join our team. This position may be structured as part-time or full-time depending on the successful applicant’s experience, availability, preferences, and company needs.
The Role
This is an employee position, not an independent contractor role. You will work independently in the field, managing your inspection-day responsibilities while maintaining close communication with our office team. Most non-inspection work (reporting, documentation) is completed remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct residential inspections (structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, etc.) according to industry standards.
- Use safe and appropriate visual inspection techniques (including drone-supported roof evaluations where direct access isn't safe).
- Prepare accurate, high-quality digital reports.
- Communicate findings clearly and calmly to clients and agents without causing unnecessary alarm.
- Maintain professional readiness (vehicle, tools, and attire) at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certification: InterNACHI (CPI or CMI) or RHI preferred. Candidates with heavy construction/trade backgrounds willing to train may be considered.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of residential building systems and common defects.
- Physical Ability: Comfortable accessing attics, crawlspaces, and basements.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient with inspection reporting software and cloud-based tools.
- Essentials: You must provide your own reliable vehicle and standard inspection tools (moisture meter, testers, ladders, etc.).
Compensation & Perks:
Legacy uses a structured employee compensation model based on experience, professionalism and reliability.
- Part-time: Typically $25–$35/hour (based on experience).
- Full-time: Typically $50,000–$75,000/year (based on experience).
- Mileage: Approved work-related travel is reimbursed based on CRA guidelines.
- Extras: Eligibility for performance/quality bonuses and commissions for approved add-on services (Septic, Well, WETT, etc.).
- Benefits: Eligible for health/dental/vision coverage after the successful completion of a probationary period.
